Bowes construction recently received the veteran owned business of the year (2021) in Brookings. This is what the Brookings area chamber of commerce had to say.
Help us congratulate Bowes Construction Inc. and Jason Bowes on receiving the Brookings Small Business Week Veteran-Owned Business Award!
This was one touching nomination. “I truly believe Jason Bowes is a prime candidate to receive this award. Jason has had many active roles in his life including serving in the military, being an advocate for ways to develop Brookings, a man of business, a father, and a mentor to me as well as many others. John Crosby, the famous actor states, “Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.” This quote completely describes Jason as he is always able to offer insight after actively listening, and even though the push isn’t always the most comfortable at first, Jason makes you realize that when he is pushing you, he is pushing you to be a better man of character as well as becoming a better professional.”
“Jason spent four years in the Marines and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in the San Mateo Unit. After attending Basic, he was stationed on Diego Garcia, a British-owned island in the Indian Ocean. He later was stationed back at Camp Pendleton to finish his service.”
Thank you for your service, Jason, both to our nation and the Brookings community!
National Small Business Week is May 2-8, 2021, and the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce and Brookings Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) are celebrating our local small businesses by recognizing five stellar Brookings small businesses through the Brookings Small Business Week Awards. Brookings is very fortunate to have depth, variety, and longevity within its small business sector. It is fair to say our small businesses are nothing short of awesome! 2020 can’t keep our businesses down. They not only continue to shine but exceed our expectations as they show innovation, ingenuity, and grit.
