Bowes Construction completed paving operations for the parking lot at The Calla Center during the 2026 construction season in Brookings, South Dakota. The project included milling the existing asphalt surface and placing a new 2-inch asphalt overlay to provide a smooth, durable, and refreshed parking area.
The mill and overlay process allowed the existing pavement structure to remain in place while addressing surface wear and deterioration. The newly paved surface provides improved ride quality, a refreshed appearance, and improved performance for the daily traffic and parking demands of The Calla Center. Businesses were only affected by parking lot closure for a half a day, another advantage to building with asphalt.
