Throughout the summer of 2021 Bowes Construction accepted a public job lead by the South Dakota Department of Transportation. This job included the completion of three turn lanes on HWY 14. Two turn lanes were created just west of Brookings and three miles west of Volga. The third turn lane was completed just east of Brookings. The project was no small task as the job required a few processes. First site excavation was completed, and aggregate was hauled in to rebuild ditches and create a shoulder. Once the shoulders were completed, they were graded to proper specifications as well as being compaction tested. Next the lanes were paved with asphalt. After paving the top layer of the asphalt was chipped sealed for traction. Finally paint was added and the turn lanes were completed!
